Cold air is now moving back into the region. This cold air is going to set the stage for wintry weather and travel issues later this week. Wednesday will still be a chilly and tranquil day. Wednesday evening will be clear and temperatures will fall fast. At this point it looks like it will fall enough for Thursday’s precipitation to be mostly frozen. Temperatures during the day on Thursday will hold in the 20s to near 30 at the ground but warm air will move in aloft. This is going to give us snow that will change to sleet and then freezing rain. The mix will likely go back to snow showers on Friday.
Travel will be difficult Thursday afternoon into the midday hours on Friday.
