Weathercast

This morning temperatures will be in the single digits and teens and they will drop as the day goes on. Today we will have clouds mixing with some sunshine and snow showers around. With winds, there also could be some snow squalls, especially during the morning. Watch for changing visibility and slick road conditions on your morning commute.  Today will be a frigid day. It will also be a windy day with winds from the west at fifteen to twenty miles an hour. This will make many locations feel like it is below zero. Due to this the National Weather Service has issued a Wind Chill Warning for Jefferson and Indiana Counties until Friday at 7:00 AM. A Wind Chill Warning has been issued for Elk, Northern Centre, Clearfield, Cambria and Somerset Counties until Friday at 9:00 AM.  A Wind Chill Advisory from 1:00 PM today until Thursday at 12:00 PM for Southern Centre, Huntingdon, Blair, and Bedford. With cold like this, it can take less than ten minutes to experience frostbite. You’ll want to limit time outside, and if you have to go out make sure to bundle up. Tonight will be dangerously cold. We will have low temperatures well below zero. Factoring in the wind chills, many areas tonight will feel like it is twenty to thirty below zero. Make sure to check on your neighbors and also make sure your pets are warm. 

Thursday the bitter cold air will stay with us. High temperatures on Thursday will be in the lower to mid single digits. Again with the winds factored in, it will feel like it is below zero. Thursday we will have winds between ten to fifteen miles an hour from the west. Thursday high pressure will build into the area and we will have sunshine mixing in with some clouds, with a few flurries. Thursday night will be mainly clear and temperatures will tumble back to around zero degrees.

Friday we will havea rather cloudy day with some snow. At this point it looks like southern areas will have more of the snowfall compared to the north. Our high temperatures on Friday will be in the mid to upper teens. Friday night there will be patchy clouds with low temperatures in the single digits. You’ll want to bundle up if you are headed to Gobblers Knob for Groundhog Day. It will be in the single digits to start off Saturday morning.  Saturday for Groundhog Day we will have a mix of clouds and sunshine with high temperatures in the mid to upper 20s. Sunday clouds will increase and drizzle will develop late in the day. We could even have some freezing drizzle in spots. Monday we will have a rather cloudy day with showers around. Next week we will start to have a warm up for a brief time with high temperatures in the upper 30s to lower 40s.
