Temperatures this morning will be in the teens and we will have a clear sky. It will be a frosty start to our Tuesday. High pressure will be over the region today. Today will be dry with sunshine mixing in with a few high clouds. Our high temperatures today will be in the lower to mid 30s. Our next low-pressure system will move in on Wednesday. Tonight we will have clouds increasing with low temperatures in the lower to mid 20s.
Tomorrow is looking messy with a cloudy sky and a wintry mix. At this point, it looks like tomorrow morning it starts off as snow in the southwest first and moves northeastward. By Wednesday afternoon, we will have steady snow across the region with sleet and freezing rain mixed in. Wednesday evening this will turn into the wintry mix with rain and continue overnight. By Thursday morning there will be some lingering showers and freezing rain. Regardless of what falls, traveling will be tricky and you’ll want to allow yourself extra time.
Due to this the National Weather Service has issued Winter Storm Watches for Blair, Cambria, Huntingdon, Bedford, and Somerset Counties beginning Wednesday at 4:00 AM until Thursday at 6:00 AM. Indiana and Jefferson Counties are under a Winter Weather Advisory from 7:00 AM Wednesday until 1:00 AM Thursday. West of I-99 at this point looks to be 3 to 6 inches of snowfall, East of I-99 around 6 to 9 inches and Jefferson and Indiana County around 1 to 3 inches of snowfall. If we have more in the way of sleet and freezing rain these snow totals will be lower. What is certain is the precipitation will reduce visibility and there will be slick commuting. Our high temperatures on Wednesday will be in the lower to mid 30s. Wednesday night as the mix continues temperatures will stay in the 30s.
Thursday we will briefly have high temperatures in the upper 30s to lower 40s, before they begin to drop. Thursday we will have the wintry mix exiting the region. Thursday will be a breezy day. Friday we will have a rather cloudy sky. Our high temperatures on Friday will be in the upper 30s to lower 40s. Another system rolls into Central PA over the weekend. Our high temperatures on Saturday will be in the lower to mid 40s. We will start off with some sunshine and then clouds will increase. Later Saturday there will be a wintry mix. Saturday night low temperatures will drop into the mid to upper 30s.
Sunday we will continue to have a cloudy sky and showers. Our high temperatures on Sunday will reach the 40s. By Monday there will be a mix of clouds and sunshine with some flurries. Our high temperatures on Monday will be in the upper 30s to lower 40s. Monday will also be a windy day. Into the rest of next week high temperatures will be in the upper 30s to lower 40s.
