Morning Forecast, Monday January 28, 2019


This morning will be cold with temperatures in the single digits and teens with a clear sky. Today we will have sunshine to start and as the day goes on clouds will increase. Our high temperatures today will be in the lower to mid 30s. Tonight clouds will thicken and snow will arrive. Our low temperatures tonight will fall into the mid to upper 20s.

Use caution on your Tuesday morning commute, as the snow will continue to fall. Snow will taper off as the day goes on. North and around I-80 3-6” of snowfall is possible. South of I-80 1-3” of snowfall is expected at this time. What is bringing this snowfall is an arctic cold front. Behind this system, bitter cold air will move in. Tuesday’s high temperatures will be in the upper 20s to lower 30s. Winds on Tuesday will be from the southwest between five to ten miles an hour. Tuesday night temperatures will begin to fall. We will have low temperatures in the single digits.

Wednesday will be a frigid day with high temperatures in the single digits. It will also be a windy day with winds from the west at fifteen to twenty miles an hour. This will make many locations feel like it is below zero. Wednesday we will have clouds mixing with some sunshine and flurries around. Wednesday night will be dangerously cold. We will have low temperatures well below zero. Factoring in the wind chills, many areas Wednesday night will feel like it is twenty below zero. Make sure to check on your neighbors and also make sure your pets are warm. Thursday the bitter cold air will stay with us.

High temperatures on Thursday will be in the lower to mid single digits. Again with the winds factored in, it will feel like it is below zero. Thursday we will have winds between ten to fifteen miles an hour from the west. Thursday high pressure will build into the area and we will have sunshine mixing in with some clouds. Thursday night will be mainly clear and temperatures will tumble back to around zero degrees. Friday we will have more clouds compared to sunshine with some flurries and snow showers. Our high temperatures on Friday will be in the upper teens to lower 20s. Friday night there will be patchy clouds with low temperatures in the single digits.

You’ll want to bundle up if you are headed to Gobblers Knob for Groundhog Day. It will be in the single digits to start off Saturday morning.  Saturday for Groundhog Day we will have a mix of clouds and sunshine with high temperatures in the lower to mid 30s. Sunday and into Monday we will start to have a warm up for a brief time.
