Evening Weather Forecast, Tuesday, January 9th, 2019

We’ll have some showers and strong, gusty thunderstorms around this evening. Later tonight will be quite windy and it will turn colder with the rain showers changing to snow showers near and west of Route 219 with flurries farther to the east. Accumulations will range from little to nothing east of I-99 to up to a couple of inches on the ridges farther to the west. Roads will be slick in some spots for the morning commute, especially in those locations near and west of Route 219.

Behind this front, Wednesday and Wednesday night will stay quite windy and cold with a good deal of clouds along with flurries and snow showers. Temperatures go nowhere Wednesday, even drifting downward with the wind making it feel a good bit colder than that. Additional accumulation will be little near and east of I-99 with a few more inches on some of the ridges to the west. Thursday will still be windy and cold with clouds, some sunshine and leftover flurries. Temperatures will not leave the 20s on Thursday. The wind will ease on Friday with a mix of clouds and sunshine. Highs will be in the upper 20s to the lower 30s. The weekend is going to stay cold as a storm system passes south of the region. Right now this system looks like it will pass far enough to the south to keep the heaviest snow away, but there can be some light snow later Saturday into Sunday. This is something we will continue to watch. Highs Saturday and Sunday will be in the upper 20s to the lower 30s, but that really will depend on the exact track of that storm. Monday and Tuesday will be brisk and chilly with a mix of clouds and sunshine. Highs will be in the upper 20s to the lower 30s.
