Weathercast

Clouds will increase tonight. Temperatures will drop through the 20s but then start to rise later tonight. Some snow will start to work into our southern counties by dawn. Snow will continue to develop northward Wednesday morning and then change to sleet and then freezing rain Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday night. Precipitation will change to plain rain west of route 219.

Snow and sleet accumulations will range from 6-9” for Blair, Centre and Huntingdon counties to the east with 3-6” in most of the other spots along and east of Route 219. Places to the west of Route 219 will have less as there will be more rain. There will be a significant buildup of ice in places Wednesday night before temperatures rise above freezing by Thursday morning. Because of this, a winter storm warning is in effect Wednesday and Wednesday night for Cambria, Blair, and Huntingdon Counties to the south and east. Do keep in mind that travel will be hazardous in both the watch and advisory areas. Temperatures will slowly rise through the 20s Wednesday and into the 30s Wednesday night.

We’ll still have rain or a touch of ice in places early Thursday then clouds will break during the afternoon with a milder afternoon. Highs on Thursday will reach well into the 40s and there will also be a gusty breeze. Friday will be a nice day with some sunshine and highs in the lower to middle 40s. Clouds from the next storm system will start to increase on Saturday followed by rain developing. There is a slight chance for the precipitation to start as a bit of a wintry mix. This precipitation will be mostly rain Saturday night into Sunday. Clouds will try to break later Sunday with highs in the 40s to near 50. We’ll have a blustery day on Monday with clouds, some sunshine along with the chance for flurries or snow showers. Highs will be in the 30s to the lower 40s. The next system may bring snow or a bit of a mix on Tuesday with highs in the 30s to near 40.  Behind that system it will get a little colder as we head to the start of March.
