As a cold front approaches the wintry mix should go to plain rain early tonight in most locations as temperatures rise through the 30s, some places reaching into the lower 40s. As this cold front moves through it will become very windy and it will start to turn much colder later tonight with rain showers changing back to snow showers, especially near and west of Route 219. There will be a fresh covering of snow, perhaps an inch of new snow in some of those spots by morning. Do be careful as some wet spots will freeze up later tonight with temperatures dropping back into and through the 20ss. Some gusts later tonight through Wednesday will reach over 40 miles per hour, and because of that, a wind advisory is in effect for Blair, Bedford and Jefferson counties westward.
Behind this front, Wednesday will be quite windy and much colder with variable cloudiness along with some snow showers and flurries. Temperatures will start in the lower 30s but will drop into the 20s in most places. We’ll have more clouds than sunshine on Thursday, but it will not be quite as cold with highs in the 30s to near 40. The next storm system will bring some rain on Friday that may start as a wintry mix. Temperatures will rise through the 30s on Friday reaching the lower to middle 40s in places later in the day into the evening hours. A cold front will then move through later Friday night into early Saturday. There may still be a touch of snow or flurries early Saturday, especially the farther south you are. Otherwise, Saturday will be blustery with variable cloudiness. Highs on Saturday will be in the 30s, but some spots may drop into the 20s later in the day. A disturbance sliding just south of the area may still bring a touch of snow or flurries Sunday, especially the farther south you are. It will be seasonably cold Sunday with highs in the upper 20s to the lower 30s. Monday will be a touch bit colder with clouds and sunshine and highs in in the 20s to near 30. Sunshine will fade behind clouds Tuesday with highs in the 20s to the lower 30s. We’ll stay chilly through the middle of the following week.
