We’ve had spells of cold and warm winters, but take note of the red line, which is a line of regression. It shows that winters have warmed a couple degrees over time.
Even more impressive is the number of days where temperatures have dropped below zero, with the regression line going from six to two.
A look at the chart of snowfall over the same time does not show any significant change, if anything, a slight increase. However, that number seems to be skewed by snowfall in the early 1900s. If you just look at the past 50 years, the regression line shows a whopping decrease of 15 inches.
