Weather Forecasts

Today will be dangerously cold. Our high temperatures today will only be in the lower to mid single digits. We will also have strong winds from the west making the air feel even colder. Winds today will gust up to thirty five miles an hour. Factoring in the air temperatures and the winds, it will feel like it is below zero for most of the day. Due to this the National Weather Service has issued Wind Chill Warnings for Cambria, Clearfield, Elk, N. Centre, N. Clinton and Somerset Counties. There is also a Wind Chill Advisory for Bedford, Blair, Huntingdon, S. Centre, and S. Clinton counties. Both the advisory and the warning go until 6:00 PM on Saturday. There is also a Wind Chill Advisory for Indiana and Jefferson County until 3:00 PM Saturday. The criteria for a warning is that it will feel like it is 25 below zero, an advisory it is 15 below here in Central PA.

With weather like this, exposed skin can experience frostbite in less than 30 minutes. Try to limit your time outside the next few days, and if you must go out make sure to bundle up. Also remember to check on your neighbors and keep your pets warm. Along with the bitter cold today, we will have more clouds compared to sunshine with a few scattered snow showers. Tonight temperatures across the area will fall below zero. It will be brutally cold even into Saturday. Saturday will be sunny, but despite the sun,  our high temperatures on Saturday will only be in the single digits. Once again the winds will make it feel like it is below zero. Use caution. Saturday night once again, we will be well below zero.

Sunday we will start to slowly see temperatures rise. Our high temperatures on Sunday will be in the 20s. We will start off sunny on Sunday but then clouds will be increasing. Sunday night temperatures will continue to climb ahead of our next low pressure system. By Monday our high temperatures will be in the lower to mid 30s. Since we will be hovering around the freezing mark of 32 degrees, we do have the potential on Monday for rain, freezing rain, and a wintry mix. We will continue to monitor over the weekend and will have a better idea as Monday nears. Use caution while you commute because there will be icy spots on the roadways and low visibility. Monday night the mix continues with low temperatures in the mid to upper 20s.

Tuesday there will be variable cloudiness with the wintry mix switching to snow showers. Our high temperatures on Tuesday will be in the upper 20s to lower 30s. Tuesday will also be a blustery day. Tuesday night will be chilly as temperatures drop into the lower to mid teens. Wednesday a ridge of high pressure will move in.
