High temperatures today will be around average in the upper 30s to lower 40s. It will also be a blustery day making the air feel even colder. We will have a ridge of high pressure moving into the region today and there will be a mix of clouds and sunshine. Northern counties could have a flurry or two. Tonight we will have temperatures quickly dropping into the upper teens to lower 20s. We will have a mainly clear sky with a few clouds.
Thursday will also be a dry day but it will be milder. Our high temperatures on Thursday will be in the lower to mid 40s. During the day on Thursday we will have times of clouds and sunshine. Thursday night clouds will begin to increase as low temperatures fall into the upper 20s to lower 30s. Friday we will have a rather cloudy sky. Late in the day on Friday showers will arrive. Our high temperatures on Friday will be in the mid to upper 40s. A low pressure system will then move in from the south on Saturday. This will bring with it a lot of moisture and temperatures will soar. Our high temperatures on Saturday will be in the upper 40s to lower 50s. Again, average high temperatures this time of the year are in the mid 30s, so we will be well above that.
Saturday will be dreary with a rain and at times it will be steady. If you are driving for the holiday make sure to take your time and be safe on the roadways. Saturday night the showers will begin to taper off. Our low temperatures will fall into the lower to mid 30s. After this point the forecast gets tricky. The cold front associated with the low pressure system will stall near our region. This could lead to a wintry mix for Sunday and for Christmas day on Monday. We are watching this and will keep you updated the Christmas nears. At this point, it looks like Sunday will be a cloudy day with showers switching to a wintry mix. Our high temperatures on Sunday will be in the upper 30s to lower 40s. Sunday night temperatures will fall into the upper 20s to lower 30s.
Christmas Day is looking similar. We will have variable cloudiness with a wintry mix. It is starting to look more likely that we may have a white Christmas. If you are traveling, there will be changing visibility and icy road conditions. Make sure to take it slow and stay safe. Our high temperatures on Christmas Day will be in the lower to mid 30s. It will also be a windy day and will feel even colder. Low temperatures will fall into the mid to upper 20s. Tuesday we will then have clouds along with some peeks of sunshine. Tuesday’s high temperatures will be in the lower to mid 30s. It will be windy with a few scattered snow showers. After Tuesday bitter cold air will return to Central PA.
