We have been talking all week about a transition to some harsh winter weather. Earlier in the week, computer models were showing a extensive snowfall for our region but we discussed how these models would have a tough time in forecasting that big event until a front passed on Wednesday and then another system brings a more widespread light snow later Thursday into early Friday. We’re now behind the front and we are closer to the second system which still looks light.
There is a lot of uncertainty with some models showing a tremendous amount of snow on Saturday and then others showing a change to rain. I believe the rain will be tough to come by, but rather will be more sleet and freezing rain which means no matter what, travel will be tough late Saturday into Sunday. We’ll have a better feel in a day on this system in the way of snowfall amounts.
