Tuesday: High pressured moved in and cleared out all the clouds. Despite the sunshine today’s highs only reached the upper 30s to the lower 40s.
The sun plays a major role in our temperatures but so does the wind. Today’s wind came out of the north because of the high pressure over the great lakes. Cold air from Canada was brought south into Pennsylvania. Because the wind came from a cold place it kept our temperatures down today. If the wind came from the southwest, warmer air would move into Pennsylvania.
Wednesday: The high pressure will move east of Pennsylvania. Because the winds flow clockwise around high pressure our winds will shift from north to the south. The southernly flow of winds will bring warm air north. The combination of a mainly clear sky and southern winds will make us warmer. Wednesday’s highs will be in the low to mid 50s.
The warming trend will continue into the weekend. The winds will continue to come out of the south and southwest for the next couple of days. High pressure to our east and an approaching cold front will keep our winds out of the southwest for the next couple of days. This will bring a nice warm up our way.
