President’s Day weekend is usually the peak of the ski season before the number of slopes and the number of skiers start to slowly dwindle. This has to be one of the most challenging year for resorts and the hardest days may be right in front of us. Despite the ups and downs, some of the regional resorts are heading into the holiday weekend in pretty good shape. Snowshoe, Holiday Valley and Peek N Peak are all 100% open. Seven Springs and some other resorts are not too far behind. And some other resorts like Blue Knob have concentrated snowmaking in trying to keep a good base through as much of the upcoming warm spell as possible.
As for the weather, it will be warm for this time of the year this weekend. The slopes shouldn’t be too mushy early Saturday but then will be slushy later Saturday and Sunday. You won’t need too many layers as temperatures will reach up to near 50 each day of the weekend. Dress appropriately and wear the sunscreen.
