A large area of high pressure in the upper levels of the atmosphere is going to give us quite a heat wave starting this weekend. Saturday will feature a good deal of sunshine with a hot and humid afternoon. Highs will be in the upper 80s to the lower 90s. Saturday night will be moonlit and muggy with lows in the middle to upper 60s.
Sunday and Monday will be quite hot and humid with hazy sunshine and highs in the lower to middle 90s. The humidity will also be oppressive so make sure you take it easy during the real heat of the day. The nights will be muggy with temperatures failing to drop below 70 in most locations. The heat wave is going to last Tuesday into Independence Day with some hazy sunshine mixed with clouds. Highs will be near 90 with some of hotter valleys still getting into the 90s. This is going to be longest stretch of days reaching 90 since August of 2016. Be careful in this heat and stay hydrated and avoid strenuous activities during the hottest time of the day. The chance for pop up thunderstorms will be small, but not zero for the fireworks shows, including Summer Thunder at Delgrosso’s Amusement Park Wednesday evening. Thursday will still be very warm, if not hot with a mix of clouds and hazy sunshine and just the chance for a pop-up thunderstorm during the afternoon. There will be a slightly better chance for a shower or thunderstorm with a weak front on Friday. Any cooling behind that front still looks minimal.
