The National Weather Service confirmed an EF2 tornado touched down in Mifflin County Friday evening. The estimated time of the tornado was from 7:57 until 8:05pm.
The tornado touched down near the resevois off of Minehard Road, south of Route 103 in Granville. Several hundred trees were knocked down and snapped in a patch around a mile long extending to the north. This is where the most intense winds of 115mph were estimated.
The tornado then made a turn to a more northeasterly direction, moving through the Riverside Campgrond. Several dozen large trees were snapped and uprooted and several trailers were destroyed by the falling trees. A trailer was also flipped.
The tornado weakened but continued into the city limits of Lewistown where several large trees were uprooted. A tree trunk snapped along Grand Street and the roof of the Brooklyn Fire State was partially removed.
