CONFIRMED: Two EF1 Tornadoes Touched Down in Somerset County Sunday


The National Weather Service confirmed two EF1 tornadoes touched down in Somerset County Sunday afternoon.

The first EF1 tornado touched down in Gray. The tornado has an estimated maximum wind speed of 90 mph. The maximum tornado path is 100 yards and it traveled between a half mile and three quarters of a mile. There were no deaths and or injuries caused by this tornado.

The second EF1 tornado touched down two miles north of Kantner. It had an estimated maximum wind speed between 100-110 MPH. The maximum path width is 100 yards and the tornado traveled a quarter of a mile. There were no deaths and or injuries caused by this tornado.

This information is preliminary and subject to change pending final review of the events.

EF0: Wind Speeds 65 to 85 mph

EF1: Wind Speeds 86 to 110 mph

EF2: Wind Speeds 111 to 135 mph

EF3: Wind Speeds 136 to 165 mph

EF4: Wind Speeds 166 to 200 mph

EF5: Wind Speeds greater than 200 mph
