VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. (WTAJ) — Last week a man was killed in a shootout with law enforcement in Florida.
It has been confirmed by Altoona police that they actually had a run in with that man in Blair County.
Last Thursday – Philip Marsh became involved in a high-speed chase with Volusia County sheriff’s deputies in Florida after allegedly stealing a pickup truck from a woman at gunpoint.
Police say he began firing, hitting one deputy in the head, but fortunately, the shot only grazed him. Deputies returned fire, fatally wounding Marsh.
Altoona police say last October they went to Maple Avenue to get Marsh, on an outstanding warrant out of Florida.
He threatened to kill himself, but they managed to safely apprehend him.
Marsh was housed in the Blair County prison before being returned to Florida.
