The Pittsburgh Steelers trimmed their roster Saturday from 90 to 53, and one name we all didn’t see coming on the cut list, QB Landry Jones.
Granted Jones is only the backup, but it seemed like he was poised to be the backup once again. However, with Pittburgh drafting Mason Rudolph in the third round this year and second year man Joshua Dobbs progressing, Jones was deemed expendable.
Former Penn State defensive tackle Parker Cothran was among the cuts, while safety Malik Golden was placed on the waived/injured list. Marcus Allen, who some speculated was on the bubble, earned a spot on the 53 man roster.
