SFU’s Boyd invited to Bears rookie mini camp

Former Saint Francis Football safety Delondo Boyd (Indian Head, Md./Henry E. Lackey) has received an invitation to Rookie Mini Camp with the Chicago Bears.  This is the third straight year that the Red Flash has had at least one player participate in a rookie mini camp.
 
Boyd, a two-time team captain, started all 45 games as a member of the Red Flash.  He was a First Team All-NEC selection in 2017 after earning Second Team All-NEC honors in 2016.  He was a member of the CFPA Defensive Back of the Year Award Watch List in 2015.
 
The Maryland native tallied 197 tackles at Saint Francis, including 127 solo, 14 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, eight pass breakups, four interceptions, six forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.  He also had two career pick-six’s and two games with double-digit tackles.  Boyd led the team with three interceptions in 2015.
 
As a senior, Boyd collected 57 tackles, including 37 solo, four tackles for loss, a sack, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, a pass breakup, an interception (returned for a touchdown against Lock Haven) and a blocked field goal.
 
Boyd was a major part of a Red Flash defense that ranked among the Top 10 in the FCS in scoring defense (fifth), total defense (10th), pass defense (sixth), pass efficiency defense (third), red zone defense (fourth) and defensive touchdowns (seventh).  The Red Flash forced 25 turnovers, including 14 interceptions.
