We are just under a month until the Heisman Trophy is presented in New York City- December 9th to be exact. Penn State running back Saquon Barkley had found different ways early in the season to stay in the disscussion, despite low rushing yardage totals, but that hasn’t been the case over the past few weeks.
“It’s kind of like a boxing match. Throw the jab, throw the jab. When they get lazy, hit them with the haymaker, meaning, take a three, take a four, sometimes even a negative two, sometimes a negative three, and when you get the chance, split a big one..”
“His athletic ability, what he can do as a playmaker, and there’s a reason why teams are committing eight, nine guys to the box because of the dynamic player he is,” says quarterback Trace McSorley.
While the numbers may not have been there in recent games, there’s no doubt in the Penn State lockerroom who should be walking away with the trophy in New York City next month.
“Saquon is the best player in college football. I mean, it’s plan and simple. There’s not much else that needs to be said. I the Heisman is supposed to go to the best player in college football, Saquon Barkley’s the best player in college football, give the man the trophy,” says tight end Mike Gesicki.
“There’s a lot of stuff behind the scenes that I think some of the voters might not see ore realize what he’s doing for our team,” adds McSorley.
