Penn State wrestling’s senior class consists of six wrestlers combining for four national championships, nine All-American finishes and four top-three rankings in the country.
All of Penn State’ seniors are ranked highly or already have All-American status – except for walk-on Scott Stossel.
According to coach Cael Sanderson, Stossel started wrestling for the school’s club wrestling team before earning the spot on the roster as a walk-on. He got his chance to start in the lineup against Michigan, Michigan State and Illinois.
Stossel earned his first Big Ten Dual win Sunday against Illinois’ Joshua Contreras 6-4. Stossel wrestled for North Allegheny High School and did not qualify for the PIAA Championships.
Intermat ranks the following seniors in Penn State’s lineup:
157: No. 1 Jason Nolf
184: No. 2 Shakur Rasheed
197: No. 1 Bo Nickal
285: No. 3 Anthony Cassar
Nick Nevills is a two-time All-American and is expected to sit out the rest of the season behind starter Anthony Cassar at 285.
