UNIVERSITY PARK, PA. (WTAJ) – Penn State baseball coach Rob Cooper made a powerful statement Saturday.

Cooper announced via twitter that no Penn State player will wear the number five in 2021 in honor of George Floyd, who was murdered earlier this month in Minnesota.

@16RobCooper
George Floyd wasn’t perfect. None of us are. However, he was a brother, a son, a friend, & a teammate. He wore #5 in college. I never met Mr. Floyd, but I have coached many #5’s in my career & I loved them all. Next season, no @PennStateBASE
player will wear #5 to honor Mr. Floyd
