Lock Haven University will increase its number of sports to 20 for the 2019-20 school year.

The university announced it will add varsity women’s wrestling starting next season.

Women’s wrestling is not an NCAA sanctioned sport. The Women’s Collegiate Wrestling Association (WCWA) is the governing body for women’s wrestling in college.

Fellow PSAC schools East Stroudsburg and Gannon sponsor women’s wrestling.

According to a media release, 58 other schools have women’s wrestling throughout the country.

In August 2018, Lock Haven also announced the additions of women’s tennis and women’s golf. Women’s tennis will start competition next season (2019-20) and women’s golf will start competition the year after (2020-21).
