Tucker homers in big league debut

Altoona Curve

Not too many phone calls at 1 am are good ones, but that wasn’t the case Friday night for Cole Tucker.

The former Altoona Curve shortstop, got called up to the big league club for Saturday’s game against the Giants after Erik Gonzalez and Starling Marte were placed on the injured list. The two collided going for a fly ball on Friday night.

Tucker found himself in the leadoff spot, and provided the perfect ending to a storybook day. Depositing a two-run home run 431 feet to dead center, giving the Pirates a 3-1 lead, a lead they would hold because rain washed out the rest of the game.
