Cambria County Commissioners and Admiral Peary Vocational Technical School cut the ribbon Wednesday on a project that could become a centerpiece for many local weddings. The pavilion at Duman Lake Park in Ebensburg is one of the largest community projects ever completed by students at Admiral Peary.

Commissioners requested that students to take on the construction of an esthetically pleasing, fancy wedding pavilion, overlooking the lake,  and it looks like that got what they wanted.

Vo Tech Executive Director Ken Jubas says, “the county freed up approximately $18,000 dollars to build it,  but in the real world, this pavilion is estimated at about $35,000 dollars, so it’s a win-win situation for the county and the students.”

According to Jubas, about 40 students designed and built the wedding pavilion with the help of their carpentry and masonry instructors.
