In Centre County, a polling place happens to be in a construction zone, creating concerns for voters in a State College Precinct.
Precinct 34, located in the CBICC office in downtown State College, is surrounded by the upcoming Dr. Martin Luther King Plaza.
Some fear the construction zone will deter voters from voting.
“You have voters who are committed to voting,” Joyce McKinley, Centre County’s director of elections said regarding unjustified fears.
While construction was taking place at the Fraser Street parking garage Precinct 34’s polling place was relocated at the State College Municipal Building two years ago.
CBICC now occupies what used to be the Centre Region Senior Center.
Chairman from both the Centre County Republican and Democratic Committees said they don’t think the construction will be a major issues as long as voters have easy access to the CBICC office and see signs directing them in the correct direction.
County officials said they’re prepared to do both on Election Day.
