IRWIN, Pa. (AP) — An elderly couple found dead inside their western Pennsylvania home this week died in a murder-suicide.

The Westmoreland County Coroner’s office says 85-year-old Thomas Agnew shot his 85-year-old wife, Joan, multiple times at their Irwin home before shooting himself once in the head. But it’s not yet known what sparked the shooting.

The couple was found shortly before noon Thursday by a caretaker. Authorities believe the shooting occurred sometime on Wednesday or Thursday

Authorities say no one else was in the home when the shootings occurred.
