PITTSBURGH (AP) — A teenager accused of accidentally shooting his friend to death inside a Pittsburgh home has been charged with involuntary manslaughter.
City police say 18-year-old Michael Anthony Hartwick Jr. also faces a weapons charge in the Sept. 8 death of 16-year-old Alexander Alman. It’s not known if Hartwick has retained an attorney.
Authorities have said Hartwick lived in the home and the pair were in his bedroom when they jokingly pointed weapons at each other. Hartwick’s gun then went off and Alman was shot in the face. He died the following day at a hospital.
Hartwick was not injured in the incident. No one else was in the home when the shooting occurred.
It’s not clear who owned the weapons.
