Police chief set to retire

The DuBois police chief is retiring from his post.

Chief Ronald LaRotonda says in a letter that he will officially call it quits on Feb. 23, 2017, or one day after his 50th birthday.

LaRotonda is a 27-year veteran of the police department.

The retirement was noted at the city council meeting on Monday. LaRotonda has been chief for about three years, and also served as assistant chief.
