Mayor Rahm Emanuel: “This is a whitewash of justice.” Chicago’s mayor and police superintendent spoke out against the decision by prosecutors to drop charges against Empire actor Jussie Smollett. A grand jury indicted Smollett on 16 counts of disorderly conduct for allegedly lying to police about a hate crime.

Smollett had pleaded not guilty and denied the allegations.
