New cell phone technology would detect cellphone use during a car crash

National News

A new legislative proposal could make Nevada one of the first states to use technology that detects if a person was using a cellphone during a car crash.

If the measure passes, police would use a device known as the “textalyzer,”  which connects to a cell phone and looks for user activity. The measure is igniting privacy concerns, leading lawmakers to question the practicality of the technology.
