National Chocolate Chip Day!

(CNN) — May 15 is National Chocolate Chip Day!

Ruth Graves Wakefield of Massachusetts originated the chocolate chip back in 1937.

Wakefield broke up chunks of a semi-sweet chocolate bar to include in a cookie recipe. To no surprise, her creation caught on.

By 1941, Nestle was producing pre-made chips for consumers to enjoy.

If you’re celebrating, you can use the #ChocolateChipDay to post and connect with other chocolate chip lovers on social media.
