BETHLEHEM, Pa. (AP) — Authorities say a man was shot several times by his ex-girlfriend’s boyfriend during a child custody exchange.

The shooting in Bethlehem occurred around 3 p.m. Sunday.

Police say 27-year-old city resident Eric Garcia Mulero was sitting in a car when he opened fire on Cesar Rodriguez, who was hit in the chest neck and face. The woman and the child were not injured.

Mulero fled the scene but was arrested a short time later at his home. It wasn’t clear what sparked the shooting

Rodriguez underwent surgery for a bullet lodged near his spine and remains hospitalized in critical condition.

Mulero is charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and receiving stolen property. It wasn’t known Tuesday if he’s retained an attorney.
