PennDOT announced an update Thursday on the ongoing bridge preservation project in the Lewistown area.

Both lanes on the bridge remain open, but drivers should be aware of flaggers and shifting traffic the week of October 1. There will be a lane closure for joint sealing and final paving on September 29, but the closure will be during off-peak traffic hours and is expected to be lifted within a few hours.

Until the project is completed, the sidewalk on the bridge will stay closed.

Work on the bridge includes replacing steel beams, concrete repairs, approach paving, substructure repairs, and installation of new approach slabs.

Work on the bridge will also close travel lanes on Country Club Road (Route 3017) between Mt. Union and Kistler September 30 and October 1.
