A Cambria County woman has been charged for starving and abusing her horses and shooting one in the head.

Police say when they checked Courtney Weimer’s Lous Road property in Cambria Township Thursday, they found one horse dead from a gunshot wound and another that appeared to be starving. Her two living horses were surrounded by manure. Police say she told them that three other horses have died in her care.
Weimer  faces a felony charge of aggravated cruelty to animals and 9 misdemeanor charges of neglect and cruelty to animals. A visiting vet described the conditions as “deplorable” and suggested that the two living horses be removed from the property.
