The annual St. Marys American Spirit of Aviation Festival begins Saturday at the St. Marys Municipal Airport.
The event begins with a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. until 10 p.m.
Throughout the day there will be airplane and helicopter rides and hang glider demonstrations.
Along with planes, the Elk County Cruisers will be at the airport with a classic car show.
“We have a really great airport here in St. Marys,” airport manager Matthew Box said. “It’s beautiful, well taken care of, just a great reason to come out and spend a day at the airport.”
The cost is $5 per car.
On Sunday, the third drag race of the year will turn the runway into a racetrack.
Gates open at 11 a.m. and racing begins at 1 p.m.
“It’s all a day about getting the kids off the streets,” drag race coordinator Tom Catalone said. “It’s about getting them out here on a controlled environment and see what their cars can do through the quarter mile.”
Admission is $10 at the gate, $25 per car load, and $20 to race.
