As many as 300 Walmart stores across the country will no longer be open 24-hours. That includes at least 2 stores in our region.
A Bloomberg report indicates that Walmart is expanding the use of a backroom conveyor system that speeds up the system to get items to shelves. So the company is cutting the overnight shift that restocks the shelves but will move those employees to other shifts.
Walmart says the affected stores will now be closed between 1 am and 6am. In our region, this at least includes stores in Punxsutawney and Everett. The Punxsutawney store change will happen April 26th an associate tells WTAJ. No information was available for the exact changes at the Everett store.
