SOMERSET Pa. (WTAJ) — Vice President Mike Pence stopped in Somerset to visit the employees at Guy Chemical in Somerset and talk to the community on the “Great American Comeback Tour”

He acknowledged that the coronavirus had taken a hit on the economy but remains optimistic and says the administration can “Make America Great Again,” again.

“It is great to be here in Somerset County where people of the Commonwealth are driving the great American comeback,” said Pence.

Pence was greeted by hundreds of people at the Guy Chemical facility. The facility typically produces adhesives for other companies but stepped up the plate during the pandemic. As there was a nation-wide shortage of hand sanitizer, Guy Chemical decided to make their own and distribute it all over the country.

“It’s entrepreneurs like Guy and companies like Guy Chemical that represent the very best of America. This is a place that believes in hard work, sacrifice, in loving your neighbor and you can find it all right here in Somerset County at this great company,” said Pence.

He says the economy was booming and employment was at a low this country hasn’t seen in years during the first three years of Trump’s term, but that progression took a hit because of the virus.

Pence assured the crowd the Trump Administration is doing everything they can to get a vaccine and hopes to have one by December, adding that the key to the American comeback, is the people.

“I want to assure you President Trump and I, we know that it’s people like all of you, people in places like all of this…businesses, families and farms across Somerset County, you’re what make America great.”

In the meantime, Pence encourages folks to wear a mask when necessary and practice proper hygiene, promising that America’s greatest days are still to come if Trump is re-elected.

The stop comes immediately after he was in Greensburg at the Greensburg Police barracks to talk to the local police and the community.
