UPDATE: Punxsutawney house fire leaves one dead

11:53 a.m. — Officials have identified the occupant as 72-year-old Sally Geer. 

The Fire Marshal reported that he is looking into the cause of the fire being smoking while on Oxygen.

PUNXSUTAWNEY, JEFFERSON CO., Pa. (WTAJ) — Crews were called to a house fire at 4:15 a.m. in Punxsutawney this morning, Monday, June 3, 2019.

The fire happened on the 200 block of West Liberty Street with a person trapped inside.

The fire was finally put out, but the occupant had died inside the building.

Jefferson County Coroner and the PSP Fire Marshal are on the scene.
