Tyrone High School shifts to remote learning, close building for 14 days

Local News

BLAIR COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — Tyrone Area High School announced Friday that they will be temporarily closing and shifting to remote learning beginning Monday, November 23 through Friday, December 4.

According to a statement released by the school district, the decision came after three students tested positive for COVID-19 this week along with a growing number of high school students and staff that are currently in quarantine.

This move will only affect the high school and will allow a 14-day period before students resume in-person classes. The school hopes that the remote learning environment will allow quarantined staff and students to more fully participate in instruction.

GACTC students will not be attending the CTC next week, and all extra-curricular activities and athletics for all students are canceled beginning Saturday through next Tuesday, November 24.
