Police have made three arrests in the 2013 murder of an Altoona man.
Taylor Griffith, 27, was arrested Kashif Omar Ellis, 31 and Qasim L. Shaif Green, 23 were all arrested Thursday morning by Altoona police.
All three face charges of Criminal Homicide, Criminal Conspiracy, Aggravated Assault, Robbery, Burglary, Criminal Trespassing, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Discharge of a Firearm into an Occupied Structure.
Griffith and Ellis are also facing Possession with Intent to Deliver.
The charges come four years to the day Steven Hackney, 37, was found dead from a gun shot.
Police say on July 13, 2013 they were called to 124 Walnut Avenue, Altoona for an apparent home invasion and gun shots. When they arrived they say they smelled marijuana and saw a large amount of money scattered on the first floor. Hackney was found on the second floor. Where he was pronounced dead.
Assistant District Attorney Pete Weeks commended the Altoona Police on their four year investigation.
Weeks said, “this is another tragic reminder that drug use and trafficking are inherently violent and cannot be tolerated with in our community. Not only was a life taken by this senseless violence, but others in the community were put in harm’s way. “
