Local News

A new report found that substance abuse is an issue for one in 25 pregnant women admitted to Pennsylvania hospitals.

Opioid drugs were the most common substance used, accounting for about half of the hospital stays where substance abuse was an issue.

Nearly half of the babies born to these women were premature or early-term.

The report found that the mothers were more likely to suffer from mental health disorders and Hepatitis C.
