Students leave class in protest

Local News

Monday, students from several public schools in Pittsburgh walked out of their classrooms. They were protesting a jury’s decision not to convict a former Pittsburgh police officer for the death of a 17-year-old black teenager.

Last week, a jury found Michael Rosfeld not guilty in the 2018 shooting death of Antwon Rose. The Pittsburgh Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Anthony Hamlet issued a statement on the walkout,  saying the district doesn’t support students leaving without permission.

He says they are working to provide assistance to any students who want to talk about the shooting or the trial.
