Some middle school students found out what makes manufacturing cool– and they were awarded for it Tuesday night.
The “What’s So Cool About Manufacturing?” award ceremony was held at Ridgway Area High School.
Middle school students were paired with a local manufacturer to create a video.
Nearly 100 students from 16 schools around our area participated in the challenge.
They competed to receive one of eight awards.
The contest aims to open career possibilies to kids outside of higher education.
“Certainly college is needed and we need higher education in our society, but at the same time there are a lot of manufacturing jobs, especially in this area,” dream team member Rich Steel said. “So it’s important these kids are exposed to these career opportunities.”
This is the third year the video contest has been held.
