Student to run business for internship

Local News

A Penn State student is getting ready to go into business this Summer thanks to a special program.

Brook Woodward is a Freshman Business major.
She’s opening up her own building painting business through the internship program “Student Painters”  which works to encourage young entrepreneurs all across the country.
Woodward plans to start hiring marketers and painters for jobs in State College and Port Matilda soon.
She and her mentor agree that even if the people she hires don’t work together permanently it’s still a great way to get experience in the industry.
“It’s really going to broaden my experience and help me with connections and learn things that I wouldn’t have learned in other internships,” Brooke Woodward, Branch Manager, for Student Painters, said.
“I believe this is a really important internship because students learn how to obviosuly run their own business, they get to manage a ton of people,” Austin Lesak, General Manager, for Student Painters, said.
Brooke says her company will begin painting houses after Penn State’s semester ends in May.
