State College, Pa- One business at the Nittany Mall is now closed, and another announced it’s closing soon.
The Zales Jewelry store at the mall recently closed. But Kay Jewelers, owned by the same parent company, Signet Jewelers will remain open.
Signet says they planned to close more than 200 mall locations and open more stores outside of shopping malls.
A longtime staple at the mall, Matthew’s Hallmark, announced it will close on February, 25.
These closures follow two anchor stores, Sears and Bon-Ton, which closed down at the mall earlier this past year.
Other mall businesses that closed in 2018 include: Charlotte Russe, Things Remembered, Pearle Vision, Regis Salon, Auntie Anne’s Pretzels, RC’s Dogs, Garfield’s Restaurant and Pub and Old State Deli.
Many businesses opened at the mall as well, they include: Can’s Art (returned to the mall in the fall after initially closing in 2017), Native Crafts, Dance Academy of State College, Happy Wraps, and Chinese Hot Pot (Gudong)
Two other business slated to open at the mall in 2019 are Happy Dishes restaurant, and KnB’s Inflatables Please, which is an indoor family entertainment center.
