Some protested President Trump’s visit

Local News

The President landed at the airport just before 4 p.m. this afternoon.

The President paid his respects to the victims of the Tree of Life Synagogue shooting.

He has been met by protests from not only city and Jewish leaders but from residents in Pittsburgh as well. Many people are not happy about the President’s visit to Pittsburgh. They want him to denounce white nationalism, and they felt he should have delayed this trip.

Hundreds of people gathered outside of the President’s arrival, waving signs, or singing songs. The atmosphere was very somber, with little shouting and no chanting.

There is protesting over the timing of President Trump’s visit. Funerals for three of the victims started this morning.

Mourners including Pittsburgh Steelers were lined up outside Rodef Shalom Temple for the visitation and funeral for brothers Cecil and David Rosenthal. The brothers were fixtures at the Tree of Life Temple, always greeting others and passing out books.

And Dr. Jerry Rabinowitz was laid to rest soon after the brothers. Those that knew him say he will be remembered as a caring practitioner who gave his time freely to patients.
