April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. To help victims, the Penn State student-lead group “Sisters on the Runway” held their fifth annual fashion show Tuesday night to raise money to help local victims.
“The idea is that everybody who walks on the runway represents surviors of domestic violence though they may not be survivors themselves, they walk for them and it’s just a very empowering way to kind of get acrossour message that we won’t stand for this,” Shaye Smartt, Vice President for Sisters on the Runway, said.
The group raised $1,363.70 Tuesday night.
They plan to give all the money to Centre Safe in State College, an organization that helps domestic violence and sexual assault victims.
