The Huntingdon County Sheriff’s Department has two new cruisers thanks to a grant.
This brings their fleet up to 6 vehicles and a transport van.
The vehicles cost the county about 60 thousand dollars, but are being paid for with a grant that spans three years.
We caught up with Acting Sheriff for the department who says it’s important to have reliable cruisers.
“The fleet of vehicles we had before had over 100,000 miles on them. There were some that 200,000 miles on them and with our extensive transports and being called out in the middle of the night to do transports they were breaking down on us,” said Jeffrey Leonard.
It will take three years to pay off the vehicles.
20,000 dollars of grant money will be issued each year to pay for the vehicles.
