PA Attorney General Josh Shapiro announced an agreement with Continental Real Estate Management in State College. The settlement is based on a review of the security deposit practices of the company.

Continental was deducting a 15 percent “administrative fee” from the tenant’s security deposits upon them leaving. The 15 percent charge was deemed impermissible under the Landlord Tenant Act as well as a violation of the Consumer Protection Law.

The State College property manager has stopped this practice and will issue refunds to the former tenants affected. Those tenants must file a complaint with the Bureau of Consumer Protection by May 31, 2019, to be eligible.

If you believe you qualify, you are urged to call them at 1-800-441-2555, email them by clicking here or visit the Attorney General’s website by clicking here.
